Finally, a stain in a pot! Genius!
I am truly in love with this product. It's smooth and it stays well. I love that it's in a pot because as a Pro Makeup Artist they are perfect for scooping out and mixing with other colors w/o the worry of cross contaminating. My clients and brides love them. I also have a few for my own personal bag. I simply use a lip brush to apply.

Yes, I have to agree with all the others about this lip stain being a good value. But I don't like that it does tend to make my already dry lips more dry, and that it does not apply all that well without a brush. I am more of a lipstick person, so perhaps that is why I am not all that enchanted with these "stains". They do not last that long really, but are pretty when they are on. I have mixed feelings about the product. But if you like colour in a pot, and there are several very pretty choices, it just might work for you. They are just okay with me. I had Shy Pink and it was a good shade for my fair skin.

I love Laura Mercier products, I do. However, I wonder what the folks in marketing were thinking when they decided to put a stain in a POT. Use your finger and you've got to have something to wipe the stain off with... that's going to get stained and you find yourself w/ a stained fingertip as well. Don't want to stain your fingers, you've not got to buy an applicator and carry it with you. For $20 lip stain should come either in easy to use, mess-free tube form, or WITH an applicator somehow built in, not 2 separate items to track down in your handbag.

I received this product with the Valentine's special bag. I was very hesitant about using a lip stain in a jar. Surprisingly, this is now the only product that I use on my lips. No more lipsticks....this is what I will use from now on.

This is my very first stain. It works beautifully is moisturizing and still long lasting. Doesn't dry and peel my lips and is great under other lip colors

I have this in mulberry, scarlet and mocha. The mulberry is a great plummy shade for fall/winter, the brown sugar is a nice for tanned skin, the scarlet is a bold red that looks great for evening. I love the packaging and size,making these last forever. Application is best with a lip brush and the color does stay for a long time. The scarlet is the best of the bunch for my fair complexion, when used sparingly. I also use these as rouge.

I can't believe I have not reviewed this before. I have been wearing Mulberry since it hit the stores in Atlanta awhile back. I love it. It is the perfect red, so classic and lovely. I also use it as a cheek stain and it looks great. Mulberry is the one product I must have if I were stranded on a desert island.

I have the lip stain in Mulberry, and although I love the product, I do find it a little drying. However a little Pawpaw Ointment before application ensures that it's not too much of a problem. The colour has great staying power and can be sheer or dramatic, depending on how much you layer on. One of my favourite everyday products. I don't have a problem with it being in a pot - it's simple enough to carry a compact lip brush for any touch-ups.

I really wanted these to work for me.I got English Rose and Mocha. I tried English Rose first not the color I expected from color swatch online:( so I didn't even try Mocha but I'm exchging for Shy Pink. Hope it works!!!

The Main Stain

Excellent lip stain. I have it in Mulberry, which is a great fall and winter color.
My skin tone is fair, and I can still carry this color.
It goes on easy, with either a finger or lipstick brush (although I do recommend a lipstick brush for a more flawless application). It is a little dry, not too creamy. But this is what I suspect keeps its staying power. It does last a few hours... not all day like some people claim.
If it were a bot creamier, less money, and did last longer I would have given it 5 stars

This product actually reminds of a lip balm minus the "oily" feel. Its creamy and non drying formula is perfect to use everyday, an alternate for women who are not so fond of lipsticks.
I use Shy Pink when I do TV commercials because it has a hint of color and it does not make the model's lips chapped. Since it takes long hours shoot TVCs and continuity is always an issue this keeps her lips hydrated all the time.
This product comes in a pot, which I actually prefer because it does not spill. It drives me crazy sometimes when lipstick caps slip off and the next time you dial up the tube of the lipstick, the form is ruined because it went got "bumped" inside your purse.
You don't need to use too much of this product. A little bit goes a long way. If you would see the pigments coming together on the lips, it means you put too much. Blot with a tissue or press your lips together to warm the product.
I have this product in Mulberry, Hibiscus, Mocha, Shy Pink, and Peach Glaze.

These are not really the same as many of the stains in the market because the effect is creamier, more pigmented, and the product itself is thicker-- not watery like liquid lip stains. I think it is considered a "stain" because it is more moisturizing so there is less incentive to lick your lips, which removes the color. It's also not as slick as a gloss, so the color doesn't slip off as easily.
I have Shy Pink. It's got silver shimmer in it, so if your lips look good with silver shimmer, go for it! I believe the other colors are shimmerless.

I love lip stains because they last long, but my biggest issue with them is always the fact that they dry out my lips so quickly! I was determined to never give up until I found the perfect lip stain and I'm glad that I didn't. Once I tried this lip stain, I was hooked. This lip stain works quite effectively, but is also moisturizing, which is what I was looking for. I really love the rich amount of color that this provides. I would have to say the only downside is the fact it's not as sanitary, but that is easily fixed with the use of a lip brush, and is not enough to prevent me from repurchasing this product over and over again. It's pretty much perfect and exactly what I was looking for in my quest for the perfect lip stain.

I've had the lip stain in Mulberry since it first came out -- a year, maybe more? It's a lovely berry color that at first I thought might not work with my red hair and freckles. But it has just enough brown to be MLBB. It's soft, moist, and lasts forever. I use my finger to apply and get a sheer wash of color which is just enough. I've hardly made a dent in the jar but if I ever run out I'll definitely repurchase.
