Laura Mercier's hydrating foundation primer is a winter must for me. My makeup glides on effortlessly and stays on all day. And even though it is very hydrating, it doesn't feel heavy or block my pores.

Unusable, drippy mess

I'm fairly new to LM and loved my flawless face kit. I happily reordered primer when I ran out, and opted for the hydrating since my skin is very dry. What I received was so runny that it's completely watery--a clear, colorless fluid drips out with just tilting the tube. It's very separated, messy, and unusable, though I tried. LM sent a replacement product that was just the same. Their support has been very good through this. My mom says her tube of hydrating primer is nothing like this and is wonderful, so this tells me there's a serious quality control or stability issue with the product.

I'm a real LM fan, have been for years, so when I received a Primer sample, I tried it, loved it, and immediately bought the Hydrating version for winter and the Radiance version for nights out.
When I try to use the Hydrating formula, a clear white liquid drips out of the tube whenever I squeeze to dispense product. Similar to water, it drips with every tilt of the tube. I do manage to get the product on my face but not without a complete mess.
Nothing seems to help. Have shaken before use, have not shaken, have kept product in a cool room, in a warm room....
For $30, you'd expect a successfully emulsified product.

great for winter months

My skin gets so dry in the winter that it flakes making smooth makeup application nearly impossible. This product is great for dry skin & makes makeup look great. It also feels like it protects my skin from cold/wind which I am very sensitive to. In the summer, I can use the regular primer which is equally wonderful. Not thick at all.

I have never used a primer before and was hesitant to use one. After seeing this one advertised in so many of the Fashion Magazines, I thought I would give it a try. I was not disappointed one bit. It was very creamy and went on very smooth. My skin is dry and I use a cream foundation. The foundation just adhered to the primer very well and made it last all day long without any touch ups. My foundation glided over my laugh lines instead of sitting in them. I will definitely purchase this primer again.

Laura Mercier's original Foundation Primer is perfect. However, the Hydrating Primer is just as perfect, in its own way. This primer is essential when extra hydration is necessary. The creamier formula sinks in quickly to provide a nice boost of moisture under any base makeup. This is a windy or winter weather must have.

For years I hadn't bothered to use a primer; thought my makeup was fine. UNTIL I tried LM Primer and Hydrating Primer. What a difference with the smoothness of makeup application. Even my pores look better! I use the regular primer in the summer and hydrating in the winter. I actually am looking forward to switching back to the original primer now that warmer weather is upon us... the extra moisture is not necessary.
And now, it is NOT a bother to use my primer!

I have tried many different primers in the past, and continue to do so out of curiosity, but the Laura Mercier Hydrating Foundation Primer is still by far my favorite. It is definitely hydrating which is especially helpful for when my skin is dry in the winter months. I don't have the most beautiful skintone, but this primer really improves it by visibly giving my skin a natural glow when I use it under a tinted moisturizer or foundation. Despite my tendency to like to try different primers, I know I can always rely on LM's hydrating primer.

I do love this primer and was using it for a few years. I stopped after two of my tubes started getting watery towrad the end of the tube. An eight of the way into the oriduct, the lotion would turn watery and clumpy. After thus happened twice, I just switched to another priner.
But as a primer, it did work great. It primed my face for foundation -- the foundation glided on smoothly and evenly,. I wear excellent foundation, so I'm not sure if the primer really increased the staying power,
I've tried a handful of dept store primers. Most are good, you just need to find the one that works best for you.
One extra plus with LM priner -- no scent!

This stuff is incredible I use it everyday under my foundation and if feels like silk when i put it on! It keeps my makeup looking fresh all day and after 12 hours i don't even need to touch up my face! I go to the gym every day and sweat a lot, yet my makeup still stays in place. Very moisturizing and doesn't make me break out like every other product I have used in the past. Definitely would recommend this to a friend!

I tell people this is my "spackle"-it fills all the fine line, large pores-makes my foundation glide right on and stay all day. Perfect for a drier skintype, it is just slightly creamier than the original. has a great texture, not too slippery like a lot of primers. You feel it's really gonna grab onto your foundation!

This has become a must in my makeup routine! Even with combination skin that is quite sensative, this product glides on, feels like silk, hydrates without being oily (even in summer!) and makes foundation / tinted moisturizer look perfect all day! Best primer ever used!
