This is the pressed powder to end all powders. I am not a fan of loose powders at all, so this is a must-have for me. I have tried every pressed powder on the drugstore market and many on the department store side. This surpasses all of them in both setting foundation/concealer and preventing any shine from coming through all day. I have very dry skin, and was pleasantly surprised that my skin was not further dried out by this product (considering how mattifying it is). Be aware, this is one powder you can't just rub down your face like some other brands- you need to apply it properly, patting it in and rolling it every so slightly to set it on the face. I adore it, though, and will not buy any other powder from now on.

Great for all skin types

Attributes: Mistake-proof Application, great packaging, good for combination skin
This wonderful powder has served me well. As someone with combination skin, I often have trouble finding cosmetics that can both mask the oily skin on my forehead and nose and not emphasis the dry flaky spots on my cheeks and chin while not causing irritation or further breakouts. Luckily, I found Laura's Pressed Setting Powder. This powder is versatile enough to work on the dry and oily parts of my face and really does a nice job creating a smooth finish.
This powder is completely translucent and is a very nice, silky texture. When applied on my nose, it transforms the skin on my nose from oily to nice and satiny. Though it does a great job soaking up oil, it doesn't leave a matte and chalky finish like some other pressed powders I've tried. it actually leaves my skin with a very subtle luminous glow that photographs nicely.
To me, the best feature of this powder is its portability; it comes in a very nice compact. I needed a pressed powder to carry in my purse for on-the-go touchups during the day and this case is perfect for the job. It is very slim which means it hardly takes up any room in my bag. The compact stays closed in my bag and does not flip open unexpectedly. So I never have to worry about opening my purse to find a flipped open powder crumbled all over my stuff (don't laugh...it's happened to me a few times before). Also, it applies nicely with the puff so i don't have to carry a bulky brush.
I use this powder over my liquid foundation in lieu of colored powder. It has nice lasting power, but I do to reapply to my shiny nose and forehead every 3-4 hours -- less during the winter.
I love that it is colorless so it doesn't darken my makeup. I don't set my foundation with it initially though, I use the losse; I like it much better for that first set and just use this to eliminate shine throughout the day.

This translucent powder is great because I can use it to simply set my makeup but it also makes it possible to make my combination skin matte. Especially, when my hormones are acting up.
This is a great product for my oily skin. Sets my concealer like no other leaving a long lasting, natural finish. I also love to use as a touch up for oily shine, it does a great job on minimizing pores. I also use it to 'set' some sunscreens I use so I can evenly apply a colored bronzer over. Just a winner product all around.
This product is great to have for touch ups. My favorite Laura Mercier product is the loose powder, but this pressed powder comes in a close second. I love how this product takes away the shine and leaves my skin so smooth.
After trying several setting powders that all made me look like i was embalmed(dead) ghostly white- this laura setting powder is so wonderful it sets the best tinted moisturizer (again laura) and I never feel like there is anyhting on my face and the powder is so light feeling and does not change the color of my face make-up. Its very fine and notthick like so many other powders. Its even lighter than the mineral poders. i love it
This is the best thing Laura has come up with... instead of caking on powder and color throughout the day,you can just use this as a sheer translucent powder... it helps control shine and is great over the concealer/foundation!
