I recently purchased this in Flax. I have now been at work for 15 hours and my eye make up (also Laura Mercier) is still perfectly in place! I am a believer and will definitely purchase again. This color is also really nice on its own with a bit of liner and mascara.
Attributes: illuminating, medium coverage, mistake-proof
This product is another binge purchase of mine. As we all know, this almost never ends well, right? Well, I got lucky with this one. I got this product in Flax, so it has some pearlesence to it. It effectively illuminates the eye area and makes concealer application less sticky (If you use the LM concealer). I'm happy with this product -- it is my first ever eye primer and I quite love it. Alone or under concealer, its something to either start yourself off with or add to your arsenal of vouch-worthy products. :)
A loyal user of this product. It works effectively and helps my eye makeup last all day.
The only negative is that the wand doesn't extend as far down as I'd like essentially leaving product near the bottom of the tube that is wasted because I can't get to it.
I own two of these little gems: Flax and Linen. Linen is used when I want to wear a little shimmer in my shadow, as it is basically a flat, light primer and will not interfere with the subtle glow I get from a shimmer colour; and I use Flax (which contains a touch of shimmer on its own) by itself without a shadow. This gives a natural, healthy eye look for a simple makeup. You do not need to use a lot of product, one or two small dots of the primer are all that is necessary. The doe foot applicator tends to hold a lot of product, but you can just apply it lightly on one spot and use your fingers to blend it over the eye lid. I have used both of these for over a year now; they are superb at keeping oily eyelids more normal and keeping eye shadows in place. Highly recommended; and I never used to wear a primer other than a veil of foundation for many years. You must try one....or two or three!
This product is a must-have. I use it every day. The only reason I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 is that sometimes the product dries before i can smooth it over the entire lid. Then you can see traces of it rather than it being an entirely smooth base. But like I said, I still love it. I find I can apply it best with my fingers. Sometimes I use a brush to apply it but have had better luck just using my fingers to get a smooth result.
I used to never use eye primer when applying eye shadow, but I have been using this for awhile now. I do notice a difference when I apply eye makeup with and without this primer. Using this primer, definitely allows me to apply my eye makeup on easier, but I'm not in love with this product. Honestly, I'm not sure if the makeup artist sold me a wrong shade. Try not to put on too much of this product.
I've been using this product for about a year now. I normally don't buy these types of products, because I never think they are going to work. I had a Laura Mercier makeover once and they applied this to my eyelids. I, of course, didn't purchase this. After going around town all day long, my eye makeup was still on at the end of the day. Needless to say, I promptly ordered the product online. It's very lightweight and it's a good way to brighten your eyes too. I have dark under eye circles and my lids are also sometimes dark. This not only keeps my eye makeup on, but it also makes them appear lighter and brighter. Double the benefit!
I bought a set with LM Eye Basic in Wheat in it, and while I like that it evens out the color of my eyelid (which i actually didn't need), my main problem is that it just doesn't work well for me as an eye primer. It doesn't crease on me, but i find that it can be a bit cakey sometimes if I apply it wrong.
As an eyeprimer, it completely fails on me compared to Urban Decay's Primer Potion and Too Faced's Shadow Insurance. Whereas both gives a nice kick to the vibrancy of the eyeshadows, i find LM's eye basic dulls the colors down instead. I wasn't even trying to use any bright colors, just nice neutrals. But whereas UD and TF would make me feel like the pigment is really sticking to my eyelid and shows up, the eye basic would make me feel like nothing's sticking.
For a while when i was testing out the eyebasic, i didn't like ANY of the eyeshadows I was using with it because I thought it was the eyeshadows' fault. It wasn't until I was complaining to my fellow makeup loving friend about those eyeshadows and mentioned I was using LM Eye Basic every time I complained about an eyeshadow and SHE noticed it, that it finally hit me. :\
for those who need a bit of coverage to even out eyelids, this may work well for me. Unfortunately for me, i need that extra kick to my e/s that UD and TF privides better!
I love this product. It makes the perfect base for any eye makeup. It evens out the lid color and allows the makeup to go on smoothly and stay on all day without looking like it has been on all day! I will never put on eye make up without Eye Basics first.
This is the best product for making your eyes look their best. I wear this everyday - makes your eyes look great with full make-up. It is especially great to wear on days when you wear no make-up - it just makes your eyes look great!
I love Eye Basics! It is the one Laura Mercier product I cannot live without! It blends and wears beautifully -- with or without shadow over it. The Wheat color is perfect with my fair skin and you can't even tell I have it on, but it covers all of my eyelid imperfections.
Sets the stage for color AND is great on its own!!

Attributes: Effective, Mistake-proof Application, Cleans Easily, perfect on its own or with added pigments!!
I love this eye primer! I am amazed at how perfectly smooth and moist the formula is. I use just a small amount on each eyelid every morning. It glides right on my lids, creating its own layer of brightness and the perfect under-layer to showcase LM's great pigments. Sometimes I'll just wear it on its own with the charcoal or blue marine tightline for a wide awake, fresh look. The only warning I will give is to be certain that you are choosing the right shade for your lids. Initially, at my first introduction to the primer at the LM counter, the artist used wheat, which caked and was way too "white" for my lids (and I have quite a fair complexion!) My second try was with Flax, which ended up being the PERFECT shade. The formula almost seemed different. No caking, much smoother application with a less opaque finish. Will never stop using this product!!!
I use this as an all over eye concealer/primer. I have very fair skin and the Linen color is perfect for my skin tone. I use it under my eyes as well as on the lid. I feel it helps my eyeshadow last and not settle in the crease. Love it!
Attributes: Effective, Mistake-proof Application, Cleans Easily, great for alergy sensitivities
I am very alergic to eye shadows. I can wear this as my only eye shadow and it stays until I wash it off. I can also put eye shadow on top of it and have very little reactions due to my sensitive skin. I work many 16 hour shifts and this product stays put, doesn't crease, seem cakey, and there are several colors to choose from.

Best Eye Primer
PostedApril 16, 2011
Attributes: Effective, Good Value, brightens eyes, easy to use, Long Lasting
I have used Eye Basics in Wheat, for 10 years. A little goes a long way, and wakes up my eye area, covers uneven skin tone...makes eye shadows last all day and is great on its own--for "no makeup" days!
I have a large sample of "wheat", a tiny "buff" and full size "eye bright". The eye bright is very bright and will look like blue eyeshadow if you do not use it sparingly. I use it alone sometimes just at the inner eye to look more awake. I like to mix it with my wheat/buff samples to get a toned down version for the full lid. I have a fair complexion and wheat and buff are too dark. I like to use just primers without eyeshadow for a more natural/young look
Use this alone everyday for a natural look, or under eye colors to help them set and last. I love the eyebright color under eye shadow colors because it really lightens the eye and allows the other colors to really come through.
I very rarely buy the same product twice, but I'm a devoted fan. I have fair skin and use the Linen. A little bit goes a long way. I know women say the one product they can't live without is their undereye concealer, but I honestly think makes more of an impact. It brightens my whole eye area. Occasionally, I wear eye shadow and it does make it last longer but I don't use the product for that purpose. I guess I use it more of an over eye concealer.
