I had been using a gel liner and tried that company's version of lining with a damp eye liner brush and dark shadow. Loved the results, but the line just didn't last. I picked up Laura Mercier's Bleu Marine cake liner and used while on vacation in Florida. Color stayed vibrant and true all day in the heat/humidity, with almost no transfer to my lid (I use water, not the activator). Wanted to get a dark brown, which is what I normally use to line, but LM's Mahogany isn't dark enough. Thankfully, at Christmas, they offered a kit containing Coffee cake liner, which just great! Please make Coffee a permanent cake liner!

This eye liner is the best I've ever tried. It really stays put all day. I have oily eyelids, and pencil liners always smudge very quickly on me. Not this liner! i use a flat brush to apply on my top lash line, and I use a thicker bristle brush to then dab a little on my bottom lash line. I love how versatile this liner is. You can make your line as thin or as thick as you want.

I have used LM liner for years I have always used water but did not feel latest compact was working well so I use activator. Well once you use the activator the liner does not work. The activator is rather expensive for daily use but I do like it when I use for special occasions. This was not really clear in the description. I was just told I can use the caviar liner with a little water and it will be like the liner I have been using prior to LM change to tightline used to using. Will evaluate but one try has great potential

I love this eyeliner. The colors are great and it lasts until I take it off. There is a definite learning curve. I started with the smokey eye brush, then the tight line brush and now use the pointed eyeliner brush along with the tight line brush. I do use the activator. I know it is kind of expensive but love the results. I have learned to empty the dropper before closing it up so there isn't back flow into the top where it can dry up. I also make sure to store the bottle upright. I have the forest green, grey, bleu marine and plum riche. The only one I am not crazy about is the grey..it has a bluish tint, in my opinion. I hope this product is never discontinued...I'll never use an eyeliner pencil again!

It took me a lonnnnnng while to get the hang of the tight-line method (I'd always used pencils and found them wanting, even the high-end ones). I'm so glad I hung in there and kept practicing, because the payoff was well worth it! My eyes in two minutes look completely transformed, naturally defined and attention-getting, without a heavily made up look or feel. This product gives my eyes that awake rested look and the color is rich and deep, and lasts all day. I only use water, not the activator, and worked with my LM consultant to get the technique just right. Using the LM tightline brush is essential, though, but well worth the investment. I've had the brush more than two years and is literally still in brand new condition. A must, a go-to, a "holy grail" in my routine. Thanks, LM!

I received this product in the forest green shade as a sample with purchase. Upon application, it made my green eyes come alive! It is easy to apply and long lasting. The dramatic effects make the purchase well worth the price.

Laura's Cake Liners are so easy to use and go on looking so much better than a pencil liner. All you need is a little water and an angled brush, and you can create a very dramatic look, or an "I'm-not-wearing-liner-my-lashes-are-just-this-lush" look. Either way, it lasts fairly well (and would probably last longer with the Activator they sell), and goes on without the bumps you can sometimes get with pencils, and without pulling or tugging at the eye.

My main problem with eye liner is that it always runs! The time is over, and this product does not budge, run or smear! It is perfect! I use black ebony and it is rich and long-lasting. After a full day of work and at the gym, this eyeliner stays put! I want to try the other shades!
The only downside to this product is that you have to purchase the right brush to use the tight line technique as well as the activator. I tried just using water with this product, but the richness of the eye liner just does not compare to using a drop of the activator.
Even though there are some cons, I still highly recommend this product!

I always found lining my eyes a challenge before I discovered LauraMercier and now it's a breeze.
I generally use either Mahogany Brown or Bleu Marine but I am going to give the grey a try.

I received the magohony as a sample, and it's VERY light., which is okay if that's what you're going for, but it's difficult to get a defined line. I prefer the caviar liner to this one.

I received a sample of the grey tightline cake liner with another purchase. Grey is never a color I would have used but I liked the way this liner went on SO MUCH that I have just ordered Bleu Marine (my favorite color) and Brown Mahogony. I just use water with this product and I find it stays on ALL DAY. Excellent product.

I discovered this eyeliner years ago and have never tried another. It was the only one that didn't smudge after a few hours of wear. It looks the same when I take it off as it did right after I applied it. I am so glad that it now comes in forest green. A previous green color was discontinued and I have missed it terribly. I also tried the gray color and find that it works well.

Never used an eyeliner until I discovered these colors & LM tightline technique. You can teach an old dog new tricks! All the colors are beautiful and versitile. Last 24 hours, never run & removal easy, if you have a good eye makeup removal solution. Just recieved a sample of the green, I didn't purchase that color for I thought it was ...odd. Boy, was I wrong. Looks like a soft black green, not over the top. LM subtle. Great color for night or day, give it a try.

In LOVE with the new formula!

I have been using blue marine (the older formula) for over a year, and was curious about what the changes were when LM came out with new formula and the new colors recently, so I had to try. So far I have tried charcoal and forest. In my opinion, the new tightlines are WAY better than the old one was. Although I have always loved the end result, I found that I had to work way too hard mixing with the brush to get the right consistency with the older formula, which was way more like an actual watercolor paint. I even had a few that cracked and fell apart on me :(
The new formula is a major improvement. It takes a lot less water to get the right consistency for an opaque line that glides right on. Application with the tightline brush (a MUST have) is now a breeze. More of a ten-second process than the 2-3 minute process it used to be. This means that I am wearing it a lot more often than I used to! I haven't tried the activator because the water works fine for me, and I'd rather invest my money in yet another color!

This is one product I never go without. I have used the Laura Mercier cake liners for years and loved them, but this new formula is even better. They seem more intense, color wise. I use mine with water. I love the new grey and I'm so glad that Laura brought back the purple and green. Using these liners really makes the eye "pop" when you use the tight line technique.
